Mountain Pearl heads back to the green lands of Ireland

Central Region members Diane Petrie and Pat Jensen of Fox Hollow Sport Horses, are very proud to announce the return of their RID stallion Mountain Pearl to his native Ireland, where he will stand at Longwood Stud in County Sligo.
Diane and Pat made this difficult decision based on their commitment to preserving the uniqueness of the ID type and their concern for the depletion of breed diversity. Mountain Pearl's return to Ireland will give Irish breeders the opportunity to introduce his outcross bloodlines to their herds. The Meehan family, who run Longwood Stud, once owned Mountain Pearl's sire, Mountain View RID, and are excited to be welcoming back one of his sons.
This very popular stallion will be missed but leaves his mark through his numerous pure and partbred offspring and their happy owners...Read more Mountain Pearl history at

Central Region is saddened to report the recent passing of two matron RID mares...

BONNIE BELLE SUPREME RID
On March 3rd, member Liz Freeman of Flying Harp Farm reported the passing of her mare Bonnie Belle Supreme.
Bonnie was amoung the first Registered Irish Draught mares to be imported to North America, and produced seven purebred offspring during her time here. Visit Flying Harp Farm's website to read more about
Bonnie and her time in the US.
A beloved mare and family member, our thoughts go out to those at Flying Harp Farm on their great loss.

MISTY RIVER LASS RID
On November 26, 2006, Misty River Lass RID sucumbed to colic.
Imported from Ireland, Misty spent most of her life with previous owner Maggi Tyler of Harkaway Farm, where she produced four lovely offspring.
Misty entered retirement in the summer of 2005 and went to live with her daughter, Harkaway Riverdance at Janeen Pasquill's Whispering Gaelic Farm. To learn more about the beloved Misty, please visit Harkaway Farm and Whispering Gaelic Farm websites.
Our thoughts go out to Harkaway and Whispering Gaelic Farms on their loss. As well, we apologize for the lateness of this tribute to a lovely mare and ID ambassadoress.

MOUNTAIN PEARL SHINES AT MIDWEST EXPO

Fox Hollow Farm's RID stallion Mountain Pearl once again played the role of Irish Draught Ambassador to "stellar" reviews at the 2006 Midwest Horse Fair in Madison, Wisconsin.
This wonderful stallion spread the word about the Irish Draught, making new friends and visiting with old ones, while taking in everything the busy surroundings had to offer in his usual gentlemanly manner.
Thanks to Pat and Diane for another great showcase of this breed!
